so we pretty much lived in the budget host inn for about 3 days. the show in boise was kinda weird... everyone was acting a bit weird, and we were playing this gigantic room that we shouldn't have been playing. the place held like 1200 people and there only about 100 people there. it was pretty akward. i still tried to have fun, but that kind of thing is always hard, especially since i had the worst on stage sound i've ever experienced, along with a headache, so playing wasn't very fun.
after the show we went back to the hotel and punchline and spitalfield both decided to stay there as well. it was pretty fun hanging out... we had a good night. we did a lot (yes... A, space, LOT... i'm trying here!) of fun stuff. first we sat in the room and it was a trial and error to make a rap that fit the jackson 5's i want you back... then we went to wal mart to play guitar hero and hackey sack. we did alot of hacking out in the cold and alot of guitar hero in the store. when we got back, the beat was done. chris did his rap and the chorus, then i did my rap. mine was pretty lame, and then everyone just kinda forgot about the whole thing and we never finished the song. i hope we finish the song before the tour is over, it would be pretty hilarious.
the next day we slept for so long. it was dark and depressing in the room for the whole day. it was dark because everyone was using the outlets to charge their stuff and it smelled from cooking food, but we managed to sleep till like 130 or 2 and just sit in the dark on our computers for the rest of the afternoon. finally we got enough strength to leave and we went out to chilis to eat to be served by some girl who looked like some actress because steven j fry kept saying she looked like her. i forget who she was though.
when dinner/the eagles game was over, we went to see van wilder 2. punchline has a song in the movie so it was going to be fun. the night beforem at the show, punchline invited everyone to come see the movie with us. we wrote down everyone's phone # and called them all that day. only jordan came and his 2 friends, everyone else bailed out. it was definitely a good time though. we all just watched in amazement at how bad the movie was. it could have been the worst movie ever. the only thing dealing with actual van wilder was a picture of ryan reyonalds in the movie. the plot was completely ridiculous. at one point in the movie taj barged into the other teacher's classroom and said he wanted to challenge them to a reenactment of the battle of hastings or something like that. keep in mind, these teachers are the same age as the students, AND live with them, AND go out and hang out with them. the next scene shows them all out in the woods, all in some uniform they happened to have and they just play paintball... there wasn't even a reenactment. it was out of control. i couldn't believe we weren't the only people in the theatre. the other people must have thought we were insane because we were cheering and clapping when their song came on and when it was over.
no matter how bad it was, we all had a good time. we all went to bed pretty early because of the night before we were up so late the night before.
today we drove to utah and we were very late. we though load in was at 5, but it was actually 4. on top of all that the van kept overheating the whole way. by the time we got there, the van was smoking and going insane with loud noises. we couldn't figure out the problem, so we drove the van real slowly the rest of the way and were really late. it wasn't fun. the show was actually pretty good though. kids seemed to actually like music there, and there was a shane look-alike that we kept spotting, who worked there. i had fun playing and talking to people, even though i had a huge headache, yet again.
as of now, i am riding in punchline's van (using their sweet mobile interweb), along with jd and tom. shane is riding in spitalfield's van. we are all packed in... 8 people in both vans. george, max and christian are both staying in utah to fix the van. we had this problem "fixed" in anaheim by pep boys. hopefully they'll fix it for free because they clearly didn't fix the problem. they have hte fun job of driving almost 20 hours to kansas city, if the van gets fixed in time... and we have the tough job or playing acoustic and making ourselves look like fools in front of everyone.
oh well.. we'll be home a week from today. as much as i love touring... right now i'm just ready for christmas and spending time with nicole and my family and just not having to deal with anything for a little while. i have been in philly for 2 days in the past 2 months, and i'm ready to get back. i can't wait to write a new record. i'm really excited about new stuff. shane and i have been jamming stuff for a while now and i can't wait to work it out as a full band. i think writing and recording is my favorite part of music. just being able to be creative, and once you're done a song that you're proud of is the best feeling. when we get home though, there will be some much needed rest going on.... and then c hristmas shopping, and THEN writing.
well anyway, i'm gonna go back to being ridiculous hot and get some sleep.

Sounded like fun, thanks for the heads up about Van Wilder 2, god..I would love to go see a movie with all you guys. I hope your van gets fixed soon, that freaking sucks, but accoustic shows are so beautiful so I think you'll be fine if you end up playing accoustic:P I can't wait to hear your new stuff, is it going to be different from your first album? I understand about how proud you are about your music, I'm like that too. Once I achieved a song I'm always so proud of it..haha. Hopefully you can last these few days until you get to go home:) Christmas is so soon! Come to Montreal soon, thanks:)
Mel
haha. The Utah show was amazing. I personally think the guy that works there looks like patrick stump. It was fun. Next time will be better and if you ever need a ride to starbucks again, i'm totally up for it. I hope the van is working out for you guys. Pep Boys wasnt very much help here. Feel better and enjoy your Christmas!
I'm glad you're trying.
Now if only the next few sentences showed this devotion..
can i just say HOW GOOD LIMBECK WAS???? seriously, you missed out big time. spacey casey that was in hot rod circuit is from here in denver, so he played slide guitar with them for like 80% of their set. they didn't even get onstage until, like 1130, though. but still, they played the best i've ever seen them. siiiiiiigh.
i've never been more interested hearing about every single detail in a day.
hopefully the acousticness works out/the van. take care.
happy new year :D my friends and I followed you guys from the 27th to the 29th, simply because your music makes me want to sing at the top of my lungs, dance like nobody's watching, and make a fool of myself by making signs that say "let's build a rocket to the moon, just u & i"
thank you for continually going on tour, even though some nights the crowds arent pumped and the driving gets tiresome, because without valencia, there would be a huge gaping hole in my life <3
