yesterday was a pretty eventful day. i saw mr. boston on the way to the studio, which was pretty funny. then at the studio we tracked 5 songs on drums. max was getting pretty tired so we had to sit there in the studio the whole time and really work him to get it all right, but eventually we did and it came out well. i can't even imagine what it would be like to record drums for 12 hours a day for like 5 days in a row. i know i probably would be even more dead than that. after that we went over to amoeba music. it's a legendary music store and it was gigantic. there were tons of used records and just everything you could imagine. kevin reccomended that i get some albums that i never really got into that are a must. these are the albums we got:
there were a few others, but you get the idea. i'm pretty excited to delve into it and hopefully learn something about music and writing songs and being in a band. so far i've been listening to the kinks and the jayhawks and i'm really digging it. there's something so great about having an album in your hand and listening to it on your headphones. i'm pumped to go through all these over and over.
last night, after we were done at the studio, we went out and hung out with the matches. when i say "we" i really mean just me and george, becuase everyone else were being lame. it was great to see them again. they're new record is going to be insane. they were shooting a video in LA and i can't wait to see it. it was fun to hang out with some new people for a chance to, since just hanging out with the same 6 or so people for the past 2 weeks.
today was a day off and it was a chance to just relax. i slept until about 12:30, which was great considering we didn't get in until about 3 and i didn't get to sleep until about 4 am again. today we went to guitar center to go get some bass gear for recording. we picked up a bass and a cabinet and ben from the matches gave us one last night. i think we're set. george is ready to rock. on the way in to guitar center we saw tom and fred from cute is what we aim for... they were just coming out of guitar center. they are recording an album out here for a little while as well. we made plans to hopefully hang out sometime while we're out here. we'll see if it happens haha. we've been so busy and i'm sure they are too, but hopefully we can make some time and see cloverfield or something.
anyway, time to get back to listening to music and relaxing on what's left of my day off, but in the meantime check out these awesome people
