tour is over :<(

Last night was the last show of tourzilla. I was very sad to see it go, I had a lot of fun on this tour and it was probably the best thing to happen to our band thus far. We reached so many new people, and people who we could never have reached otherwise. The whole thing was such a great experience, it was great to be a part of something so professional and be able to learn so much from. We’ve never been on a tour with everyone working so hard, just like us, and all working towards the same goal and having a good time doing it.

The last 2 shows were in Canada, but only by accident, the tour was supposed to end in Philly, but those last two were rescheduled to the end, due to BLG’s TRL appearance. I’m pretty glad we got 2 more days and that it didn’t end in Philly. We had a great time going back to Canada and seeing some people we hadn’t seen before. Montreal was the last hang out of the tour, so we all went out to some bar with a huge spider that everyone went to last year after warped (except for me). It was good to hang out one last time, everyone was in full effect, but we had to get out of there at around 2 so we could get a head start on the drive to Toronto. On the way back to the van, Ian and I stopped at a falafel place; it was so strange. Some homeless people came in and the guy started yelling at him for being homeless and in between French and English spurts I could make out that he was trying to say that he was sick, but the proprietor wouldn’t believe him… we got out of there real quick. Montreal seems to have little or no laws and regulations being enforced, it’s such a liberal and crazy place; I’m not sure if I like it or dislike it for that.

So we showed up late in Toronto, but it was the last day so I guess it didn’t matter. The whole night was so fun, everyone was pumped to be getting out of there, but feeling nostalgic about the tour and made it a one of a kind show. Starting with our sound check where BQ and Vinny Vegas sang with us because Shane was even later than we were (he rode with the Audition). Video footage shall be seen of this very soon. At this point, we thought that was the funniest moment of our lives, until the Audition’s set. On the last song (which usual features guest vocals from either Martin or Alex) Vinny Vegas came out and sang… it definitely topped the sound check and was completely hilarious. During ATL, they decided to do karaoke, and Danny was first, he came up and sang Six Feet. Next up was Delicious, who fell on the stage on the way out and then proceeded to dance ad sing like a ‘subdued Daryl Palumbo’ (as George described it). THENNNNN Vinny Vegas came out and joined him (he was hungry for the mic). On Stay Awake we allll came up and shouted into the mic, the repeats of AWAKE, and DWAYNE, and whatever else we felt like doing. Then they just broke into Dammit featuring Seth from the audition and anyone who wanted to sing. It was pretty hilarious. During BLG’s set, BQ did a stage dive… which is unheard of and could have been strangled by Billy on any other night, but since it was the last night (and he fell on his head) it was fine. Also, at the end of the set, Brian and Paul switched instruments and somehow Alex ended up playing guitar for Great Escape, it was just pure mayhem, but I loved it.

So for the hilarity of the end of the night, you will need a little bit of background info. At the beginning of the show we all filled out a sheet of superlatives, where we vote on who was the funniest, cutest, most talented, etc. etc. IT was just like your high school yearbook. By the time BLG went on, they had tallied up all the votes and got the winners for all of them. Here is what I remember of it:

Funniest – Vinny Vegas (ATL merch)
Best Tour Couple – Ben + J (BLG light guy and drum tech)
Best Beard – Brent Mulligan (BLG tour manager)
Cutest – Ian Planet (Valencia tech)
Ugliest – Tim Audition
Worst Musician – Jack ATL
Worst Band – Boys Like Girls
Most Talented – Beef BLG
Worst Vocal Warm Up – Shane Valencia
Smallest Penis – Max Valencia
Smelliest – Ben (BLG light guy) / Alex ATL
Biggest Pain In The Ass – Billy (stage manager)
Biggest Douche Bag- Dan The Douche (BLG assistant tour manager)
Booze Hound – Bryan BLG
Most Likely To Become A Lesbian – Zack ATL
Ladies Man – Alex ATL
Best Tour Manager – Matt Flyzik (ATL tour manager)

There may be more, but that’s all I remember. It was pretty funny and I had a good time watching it and remembering the tour. I didn’t agree with some of them, but they were all in all pretty good.
Well once it was all over we got a quick tour picture and then headed home. The GPS broke, so we decided to use the atlas and simultaneously decided to go see Niagara Falls. Shane, George, Delicious, JD and Ian had never seen them. It was a nice little stop and we just walked around and got sprayed and then headed to a hotel in America. The border was very easy… not more than a 10-minute stop (unlike the last time, where they searched the van and all). Now it’s the next day and I almost miss it already… I still wish we had been on the whole tour, but we’re thankful for all we got.

Well, now that we’re home it’s time to do some home-like things. Writing songs and other fun things will be starting after a few days off. I will be making a tour video and also posting my pictures very soon, so keep an eye out for those. Until then… it’s time to sleep.

BRENDAN! I have a horrible habit of phasing in and out of my journal blog reading/catching up habits. I simply must do better. I apologize for my absence. I'm glad the tour was so enjoyable and professional and successful and all the things that made you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside! :)

Best wishes always,

Monica
