tofurkey

ddsSorry for no updates since Minnesota. I had the idea to write all my updates out like the last one and put them on photos… but this one is going to be too long to write out that way.

The shows have been going so well lately… We’re finally in the groove and just having such a good time. Some nights have been rough with really long drives… like 3 nights in a row of 10 hour drives, but we got it done and it was fun. Tonight is another long drive, but we can handle it for sure. Atlantic City is going to rule; I can’t wait. I also can’t wait to play our hometown, which we haven’t played since Warped and before than it was a snowy disaster in March. It’s also one of our first chances (in a long time) to gain new fans in our hometown. On top of all of that, it’s always been my dream to play the Electric Factory and finally it’s coming true.

New York was really cool. It was fun to play the same place 2 nights in a row… we’ve never had that experience before, it was great, we just left our stuff there and went out after, without a worry. Also we had some great people at the show and some awesome new things are going to be happening. The next few months and next year is going to be the craziest of our lives (we hope) and we couldn’t be more excited.

Thanksgiving was great. I packed the day full of family and friends and ended up having a good time. I woke up after our 2 New York shows (which ruled) and Nicole picked me up. We drove to my Aunt and Uncle’s house and (re)met all my cousins. I hadn’t seen some of them in years and I didn’t recognize them and they sure didn’t recognize me. It was good to see them all, and my parents as well. That was the most time I had spent with my parents in a good while. After lunch we headed out on a walk, saw gravestones of family members and I heard stories from my Dad’s childhood. After some vegan pumpkin pie we headed over to Nicoles grandmas house. Her family was quite different from my quiet family. Her family was drinking wine and loud and singing and joking. It was overall just a different experience… not normal small talk going on, but still the same childhood stories, with a twist. It was a good meal, they made us some delicious tofurkey and vegan mashed potatoes and even cherry pie. I was so stuffed by the time I got out of there. Then we went to Nicole’s other grandparents house. We were offered even more delicious food... but had to refuse because there was absolutely no room left. We just made our rounds to all the different family groups and said hello and made our small talk, petted the animals and watched hunting television. By the time we got settled in, I was beat and almost fell asleep on the couch, I felt like an old man eating too much and falling asleep on someone’s couch while watching hunting shows. At that point it was time to head out, we had to get a head start for the show tonight.

Tonight we are playing in Worcester, Mass. I’m so pumped about the next 3 shows; they’re going to be a lot of fun. We are playing 3 rooms that are over 2000 capacity and are all sold out. It’s going to be so crazy. We’ve never played for that many people in America, except for maybe at Warped tour. I don’t think I’ll gamble in Atlantic City tomorrow. I never have and I don’t plan on ever doing it. You know me and my thoughts on things like that.. or maybe you don’t?
