the last few days have been really pretty great… atlanta was pretty fun. even though punchline and over it weren’t there, I still had a good time. the show was real weird, it was like a festival, but there weren’t many people there and it was inside. a ton of bands played, including mayday parade, melee and even wheatus. wheatus was really funny, they played on the floor in a circle and had people sit in the middle of them. They had electronic drums, an electronic standup bass, an acoustic guitar through a distortion pedal and backup singers and dancers w/ tambourines and egg shakers. Basically, everything unconventional that you could do, they did it. after they teased us with half of teenage dirtbag they said that they weren’t going to play that full song till last and they didn’t ‘do’ setlists, and it was all done by requests. They played for a while and then they broke their bass string and just ‘jammed’ for a while, until the bass string was changed. They played a bunch of other weird songs, I took a lot of pictures and then they finally played teenage dirtbag. after their set it was spitalfield upstairs. When the whole show was over, it was like a big party, it was fun to watch mayday parade, wheatus and melee all have a good time on their last night of tour.
After the show, I drove up to north carorlina and we stayed in a weird motel 6. It was late so we didn’t really get a chance to do anything. In the morning everyone but me skated around the parking lot, and people cleaned the van and moved things around. There was a lot of fighting, as usual, and then we got on our way. I finally finished my book, and it really made me want to make a mixtape. So I started getting songs together and putting them in order. I had something like 50 songs that I wanted to put on the cd, so I decided to make 3 cds instead of just one. I still haven’t worked it all out yet, but I want to make it flow well and everything, just like mixes are supposed to…. I’s harder than I remember.
Anyway, the that night we played in Greensboro north Carolina. The show was pretty fun. the whole tour was back together. Before the show I went out in the freezing cold and hung out with the kids in the line because I felt bad that they were waiting in the cold for hours. I thought the kids were really awesome and I hope we play there again soon. Also, we tried all night to beat paulson’s top score on the photohunt and that was pretty fun… we came pretty close a few times, but I don’t think we’d ever make it up there, they had an insane score.
After the show, spitalfield, punchline and us all stayed at the same hotel, a Travelodge. It was really strange. People were living at this hotel, and spitalfield had to get 3 different rooms, the first one had people in it, the second one had condoms in it, and the third was smelled funny… but they kept it anyway. Our room’s shower wouldn’t work because the tub was filled weird a weird white liquid… but we just slept there and didn’t shower, decided against complaining. George, tom, Christian, jd and I went to taco bell and had quite the experience that night. They messed our order up 4 times. Finally I just walked up to the window and had a nice chat with the lady, and the bald woman who was messing it all up yelled and stormed out. The other lady was very nice, and she got everything all straightened out. She told us next time we should write our order down and just bring it up.
The next day was our day off we had been planning for a while. We had all been excited about borat for a while, so this was the day to do it. We hung out at the hotel for a while in the morning waiting for spitalfield and punchline to get ready, and we filmed stuff and made friends with the locals. Then we went to olive garden, it was hard to find things to eat, most of the stuff was not for us, but I ended up getting some delicious pasta with marinara sauce, because according to bryan, it’s one of the only things we can eat there…. But it WAS very good. After olive garden we went to the theater and it the movie was pretty hilarious. Once the movie was over we went and did more hanging out, and finally went to hooters because everyone wanted to watch the football game that some people had bet on. I wasn’t all that interested, but it was fun just to hang out, and yet again there was nothing george and I could eat there, but it was ok. At halftime, we went to taco bell to get food, and the lady remembered who we were and what we wanted, which was real funny. We went back and hung out a while longer and, it was really just a great day. I don’t think we’ve ever had a better off day on tour… ever.
Now we’re in the van on our way to augusta Georgia, which is a weird place, but it’ll be good to play again. Days off make me feel like I haven’t played guitar in forever, its pretty weird.
Well I think I’ve written enough, so its time for me get back to listening to wilco. Good bye

brendan! we met in atlanta. i bet you don't even remember, but hi, i'm claire. we watched john and bryan from boyslikegirls make out with random chicks. neat. (well, not really watched. but, y'know.)
i wish i had a way to keep in contact with you. just because you lived up to my high expectations of niceness. haha. :)
but uhh that was such an unusual show. they had such big plans for it, ticket sales-wise. bummer. i was so shocked at how few people watched spitalfield.
hope you're well.
